Each LevelUp Book 1 lesson follows a carefully structured sequence designed to help adolescent learners build new skills, practise them in context, and apply them with increasing independence.

SPEAKING IN DETAIL: Our first section introduces the target sound, how it is produced, and how it appears in words. Familiar examples help students connect what they hear and say to the spelling patterns they will practice throughout the lesson.

STEP 1 - MODEL TEXT READING: The Model Text introduces the lesson’s target sound, spelling patterns, vocabulary, and reading focus in meaningful, age-appropriate context. It allows educators to model fluent reading, highlight key patterns, and demonstrate comprehension strategies before students apply the skills more independently.

STEP 2 - LEVELLED DECODABLE TEXTS: Students apply the targeted skills through levelled, controlled texts designed to provide purposeful decoding practice while maintaining age-appropriate content.

STEP 3 - READING COMPREHENSION: Students demonstrate understanding through comprehension strategies, written responses, and activities that encourage them to think about and respond to what they have read.

STEP 4 - ORAL FLUENCY: Purposeful repeated reading helps students strengthen accuracy, automaticity, phrasing, expression, and confidence when reading aloud.

STEP 5 - SPELLING: Explicit spelling and word-study activities reinforce the lesson's target sounds and patterns, strengthening connections between what students hear, read, and write.
